Local by design.
The Windows application has no analytics, advertising, cloud database, account system, paid API, or provider credential. The portable preview reads media through Windows integrations; notification listening is unavailable in this distribution.
Preferences are saved to %LOCALAPPDATA%\NyKur Edge\settings.json. This includes choices such as edge placement, appearance, module settings, and clock intervals. Deleting the extracted portable folder does not remove this settings file.
Media artwork is held in memory. Short audio-analysis buffers also stay in memory; the application does not record audio to disk.
Motion from sound. No recording.
When the media module is enabled and Windows reports playback, NyKur Edge analyzes the default system-output mix to produce energy and low, mid, and high frequency-band values for the animation.
That analysis uses short buffers in memory. It does not create an audio recording. It is system-output analysis, so other audible applications can influence the field while playback is active; it is not isolated to one media process.
The analyzer stops when playback is no longer active or the media module is disabled. Media metadata and artwork come from the session exposed by Windows, without a separate provider login.
A choice in packaged builds.
The portable preview cannot use the Windows notification listener. It does not request listener permission, read notification content, or present Windows notifications.
In packaged development builds, notification integration is disabled by default. Listener access is requested only when the user chooses to enable the integration or request access in Settings.
Those builds offer Application only, Sender and title, and Full preview privacy levels. The selected level is applied before preview text is assigned to the interface. With listener access enabled, Windows can still provide the notification's content to the application in memory; it is not recorded to disk.
In a packaged build, disabling the integration or revoking its Windows listener permission stops that integration. The website's sample notifications illustrate this separate development capability and do not read anything from your device.
The website is a separate surface.
This static website has no account, subscription form, embedded analytics integration, or connection to your Windows media and notification sessions. Its browser demonstrations do not read your desktop.
This website is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare can process standard technical request data, such as IP addresses and access logs, to deliver and operate the site. That handling is separate from the Windows application's local processing.
Download and source links lead to GitHub, which handles requests to its own service. The application has no automatic updater; visiting those links and downloading a release are separate actions in your browser.
Contact links open your email client. The information you choose to send in an email is handled through the email providers involved; it is not part of the application's memory-only desktop integrations.
