Start with the whole folder.
The portable preview is a self-contained ZIP. It includes the application and its runtime dependencies, so you do not need to install .NET or run it as an administrator.
- Download the Windows 11 x64 preview from the Downloads page.
- Extract the entire ZIP into a folder you can keep on your device.
- Open that folder and double-click
NyKurEdge.App.exe.
Keep the executable alongside all the extracted files. Running from inside the ZIP, or moving only the executable, leaves out dependencies the application needs.
This preview is unsigned. Windows may show publisher or reputation warnings. Review the release source and the SHA-256 information on the Downloads page before deciding whether to run it, and keep your security protections in place.
A small invitation.
NyKur Edge lives at the left or right edge of your primary display. Its transparent fluid field lets your desktop remain visible, and pointer input passes through the collapsed field outside the orb.
Move over the glass orb to preview the compact surface. Click the orb to pin it open while you use the controls. Click again to release it; when you move away, the surface returns to its ambient state.
Passive previews do not take keyboard focus. The normal Edge surface stays out of the taskbar and Alt+Tab.
Your playback, close by.
The media surface reads the current session exposed by Windows. It can show the title, artist, artwork, playback state, and timeline, with previous, play/pause, next, and seek controls.
Availability depends on what the source application exposes to Windows. Spotify metadata, artwork, timeline, and playback status have been validated in development; controls across more providers are still being tested.
While compatible media reports playback, the field responds to energy and frequency bands in the default system-output mix. Other audible system sounds can influence that motion. When playback pauses or audio input is unavailable, it eases back to a procedural idle tide.
Two distribution paths. One clear limit.
Notification integration requires Windows package identity and is unavailable in the portable preview. The preview does not listen to or present your Windows notifications.
Packaged development builds include an opt-in notification listener with Application only, Sender and title, and Full preview privacy choices. The listener starts off and requests access only when the user chooses to enable it. Broader source testing remains ahead.
Notification examples in this website's browser illustration show that packaged development capability. They are sample content, not a feature of the portable download or a connection to your desktop.
Choose the atmosphere.
In Settings, select the left or right monitor edge. Automatic accent draws a restrained color from the current artwork; Manual lets you choose a color with the native Windows color picker.
Fluid character offers Calm, Balanced, and Expressive settings. Media and the clock glance can each be enabled or disabled. Notification integration remains unavailable in the portable distribution.
The clock can appear every 15 minutes, 30 minutes, one hour, or two hours. Use Preview to see a glance immediately. Preferences are saved locally on your device.
Always within reach.
Find NyKur Edge in the Windows notification area, including hidden icons. Its menu provides Open Settings and Exit. Right-clicking the orb also opens Settings.
Start the portable preview manually from NyKurEdge.App.exe. Launch with Windows requires the packaged startup task and is unavailable in this distribution. There is no automatic updater; future previews will require a separate download.
To remove the portable application, exit it and delete its extracted folder. Preferences remain at %LOCALAPPDATA%\NyKur Edge\settings.json unless you remove that file separately. The current application uses the primary display; display selection and per-monitor profiles are future work.
